  • Mountain Valley Conference Champions in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 2012, 2019 and Tournament Champs in 2013

In 2007, Herkimer volleyball began carving out their place as a regional contender under the direction of Coach Kristy Lynch. After taking the helm, Lynch led the team to increase their win record by 100%, later receiving the Mountain Valley Conference Coach of The Year Award. In 2015, another Coach of the Year candidate, Dianna Ste-Marie took over the reigns of the program. Coach Ste-Marie spent eight years with the program before Roger Maxam took over in 2023.

Why play volleyball for Herkimer College?

Our academic success.

The Generals enjoy success both on the court and off, with numerous athletes receiving academic awards and the Presidential Scholarship. Our academic specialist and other support services work with students to ensure they reach their goals.

Our opportunities.

The Herkimer College program offers athletes an opportunity to compete at the college level, greatly increasing their statistics and level of competitive play for maximum marketability to four year schools. Many athletes begin playing in their freshman year.

Our excellent coaching and training style.

Our highly trained coaching staff will take your game to the next level. While propelling the team toward the top one match at a time, Coach Maxam conducts a disciplined practice regimen consisting of high-intensity drills and game-like play, pushing the limits of her athletes both physically and mentally. The result is a well-executed, high-powered offense coupled with a commanding defense.

Our challenging season & practice schedule.

The season starts in late August with daily double sessions up until the start of classes. Following are daily single session practices for the remainder of the season. All practices are designed to maximize skill level, hone offensive and defensive plays, tighten transitioning, and further develop mental aspects of the game. Our off-season begins in mid-November and entails a weight training program to keep our athletes in top physical condition. This is a critical component of keeping our athletes prepared for competition, focusing on fundamentals and continued weight training.

Our training resources.

Our state-of-the-art facilities offer athletes valuable resources that are available immediately for necessary physical conditioning. In addition to a fitness and cardio circuit, facilities include a weight room, hiking trails, an indoor track, pool for aquatic training, and a recreation gym.

Our low tuition.

Herkimer College is an affordable way to begin your education while gaining the athletic experience and competitive atmosphere of a four-year college.

Herkimer Volleyball provides its athletes with a proactive, "blueprint for success," designed for maximum achievement academically and in athletic competition. This blueprint provides training and resources for our student athletes, focusing on both the physical and mental aspects of the sport: strength, nutrition, endurance, academics, focus, and visualization.
