Why play soccer for Herkimer College?

There are many reasons soccer players choose Herkimer College. Below are just a few:

Our record for excellence.

Playing in what is considered by many to be the toughest region in NJCAA competition, some of the best players in the country have worn a Herkimer uniform and taken pride in doing so. Herkimer has routinely been the home of the Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year, as well as the Region III Player of the Year. The Herkimer Generals’ reputation draws some of the top talent in the country, which has resulted in players earning All-American honors multiple times since 2002.  The team has also exemplified outstanding sportsmanship.  In 2016 & 2017 the team won the United Soccer Coaches Sportsmanship Award.

Our academic emphasis.

Herkimer College is ranked among the top 100 community colleges in the country for student success, due to our impressive graduation and transfer rates. We offer exceptional academics and a wide variety of academic support services to ensure our students reach their goals. All of our players are held accountable, both on and off the field. The program has also earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award in 2015, 2016 & 2017.

Our transfer record.

Through hard work in the classroom as well as on the practice field, the Generals have transferred to four-year institutions such as Coastal Carolina, East Stroudsburg, SUNY Cortland, Queens College, St. John Fisher, SUNY Brockport, and SUNY Geneseo.
