The Herkimer Softball team defeated Mountain Valley Conference foe Hudson Valley CC 8-5 in the lone game of an anticipated doubleheader. The second game was called off due to darkness.
The Generals struck first in the top of the third with a run, but the Vikings answered back with three runs of their own.
It wasn't until the fifth inning that Herkimer broke through, scoring four runs in the frame and seven runs in the final three innings, to give them the ultimate edge.
Freshman Shelby Hagues picked up the win in relief allowing just one win over three innings. Sophomores Kelsey Richardson and Olivia Friend each picked up a multi-hit game.
