Generals Softball Opens Region III Play with SUNY Broome Sweep

Herkimer College defeated SUNY Broome with a final score of 15-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on March 26, 2024. Herkimer's offense exploded early in the game, scoring 11 runs in the first inning, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Herkimer College's batters were on fire, with Naomi Cohen led the way with three hits and four RBI, followed by Olivia Friend with two hits and three RBI. Kerrigan Crysler also had a solid game on the mound, allowing only two runs and striking out nine batters over five innings.

On the other hand, SUNY Broome Community College struggled to get their offense going, only managing two hits and two runs in the first game of the doubleheader. 

Herkimer College emerged victorious with a final score of 15-7 in the second game of the doubleheader.

The game saw Herkimer College take an early lead with a strong first inning, scoring seven runs. SUNY Broome Community College tried to make a comeback with six runs in the fourth inning, but Herkimer College maintained their lead until the end.

Herkimer College's offense was led by Alexys Rosick and Naomi Cohen, who both had multiple hits and RBIs in the game. Pitcher Cassidy Will picked up the win for Herkimer College, while Shelbi Hagues recorded the save.
