Generals Have a Strong Swim on Day Two of the NJCAA Region 3 Championships

Rochester, NY - In the first session of the regional championship today the Herkimer Generals continued with a series of strong swims. The Men's 200 Freestyle relay placed 4th with their fastest time at 5:51.51. Riley Thompson placed 3rd in the 50 back with a national qualifying time of 31.42. Edson Matlombe finished with his best time and a 6th place finish. Matt Travis was the regional runner up in the 400 IM with a 5:07.38.  In the 200 Freestyle, Riley Thompson grabbed 5th place while Edson Matlombe earned his fastest time in the event. To round it out, The Men's 400 Medley Relay placed 3rd dropping ten seconds off their best time and qualifying for the national championship in March.

In the second session of the day,  Shuta Nishimura captured his second regional championship in the 100 Breaststroke while Matt Travis was the regional runner up in his 200 Butterfly. Matt also finished third in his 100 IM. Riley Thompson hit his national qualifying time in the 100 Backstroke and earned a 4th place finish. The 200 Medley relay also earned a 4th place finish.

The NJCAA Region 3 Swimming and Diving Championships finish on Sunday morning.
