Moving On: Herkimer Men's Soccer Advances to NJCAA Division III Semifinals

GASTONIA, NC -- Behind a Shuntaro Morimoto hat trick, the Herkimer Generals Men's Soccer Team defeated Camden County Community College 6-3 in the NJCAA Division III Quarterfinal on Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 4 seeded Generals conntrolled possession throughout the majority of the match, but conceded the first goal off a long goal kick in the 13th minute of the contest. Herkimer bounced right back with a Seunghun Yoo goal in the following minute to tie things at one. Morimoto scored consecutive goals in the 23rd and 32nd minutes to give the Generals insurance in the first half. 

Yoo scored his second goal in the 40th minute to give the Generals a 4-1 lead at halftime. 

Just three minutes into the second half, freshman Rood Apolon scored off a header and in the 56th minute, Morimoto wrapped up his hat trick to give Herkimer its biggest lead of the match. Camden County scored two goals in the final ten minutes to close the game with a three-goal defeat.

Sophomore Max Pawlowski, who had six assists coming into today, had four assists in the match, a career-high.

Herkimer advances to the NJCAA Division III Semifinal where they will play No. 1 seed Dallas College-Richland. Since 2005, Herkimer is 2-6 all-time against the Thunderducks, most-recently losing 1-2 on Nov. 14, 2021.
