Miranda's Two Goal Game Propels Generals in Win vs. Tompkins-Cortland

HERKIMER, NY -- For the seventh consecutive game to open the 2023 season, the Herkimer Generals Men's Soccer team has yet to concede a goal.

It's just the sixth time since 2005 that a Herkimer Men's Soccer team has held its opponent in at least seven consecutive games. Last year's team held its opponents scoreless in 11 consecutive games.

The Generals rarely allowed the ball past midfield, and gave up just one shot on goal throughout the entire game. 

Herkimer (7-0) began its scoring barrage 5:54 into the game with a Wilman Miranda. It wouldn't be until 23:24 until the Generals scored, but managed to score twice in 35 seconds courtesy of a goal and an assist from Rood Apolon.

With just a minute to go until half, Miranda scored his second goal of the game and thhe team led by five heading into halftime.

Beau Pomeroy, Kazuma Ichioka and Amir Shehata each recorded their first career goals in the second half to conclude the eight-goal victory.

The Generals have a week off before making the trip to Batavia to face off against No. 2 ranked Genesee. The Cougars beat the Generals 1-0 in last year's National Championship Semifinal game.
