Apolon's First Career Hat Trick Paces Generals in 8-0 Win

JOHNSTOWN -- The Generals headed to Gloversville High School prepared for a battle against undefeated Fulton-Montgomery. 90 minutes later, the Generals handed the Raiders its first defeat of the season in an 8-0 win on Saturday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Freshman forward Rood Apolon used his breakaway speed to open the game with two goals in the first 24 minutes of the game. The Generals went into half with a 2-0 lead before a second half scoring surge occured.

Three minutes into the second half, Thomas R. Proctor graduate Mohamed Mohamed started with a goal. Just five minutes later in the 53rd minute, Apolon finished things off with his first career hat trick. The Generals scored four more goals in the next 30 minutes, to conclude an impressive eight goal match.

Rood Apolon's hat trick is the sixth hat trick against Fulton-Montgomery since 2012.

FUN FACTS

Herkimer has shut out the first four opponents of the 2023 campaign, the first time doing so since 2018, when the Generals outscored its opponents 25-0 in the first four matches of the season.

Herkimer improves to 21-0 against Fulton-Montgomery since 2005, and today's win is the largest over the Raiders since Oct. 25, 2018 (9-0).
