Generals Win Opening Match of 2023 Season

WATERTOWN, NY -- As the sun fell beneath the clouds on a gloomy mid-week opening match, the Generals pulled out a 3-0 win over the Jefferson CC Cannoneers in its first match of the 2023 season.

Herkimer (1-0) took an early lead with two goals from sophomores Seunghun Yoo (14') and Christian Baker (17'). 

The Generals controlled the pace of play throughout, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. Yoo scored his second goal of the game in the 57th minute on a one-touch shot from a throw-in.

FAST FACTS:

The Generals improve to 16-1-2 in its last 19 opening day games and have outscored opponents 33-to-1 in its last seven.

Cathal Carney opened the season with a shutout; the sixth of his career. The sophomore and reigning All-American has stopped 47-of-49 (.959) shots in his Herkimer Career.

The first assist of the season came from Zayne Throckmorton, who already matched his year-long tally from a season ago.
