JAMESTOWN, NY – The Men's Basketball team earned its first win of the season on the road at Division II Jamestown CC, 81-73 on Saturday.
It was a back-and-forth contest that saw the Generals trail by as many as seven in the opening half. The lead was cut to one by halftime as the Generals trailed 36-35. Herkimer peaked in the waning minutes of the second half, extending its lead to eight with under a minute left and finishing with an 81-73 victory.
Six players averaged double-figures, including the lone returner from last year's team, Nick Boyce (Queens, NY), who had 11 points. Sophomore Ozzy Dejesus (Amsterdam, NY) led the team with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
Freshman Oladele Oladitan (Staten Island, NY) recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Freshman Jayson McGhee (New Rochelle, NY) and sophomore Brandon Harris (Elmhurst, NY) each added 11 points for the Generals.
Herkimer (1-0) hosts SUNY Adirondack (0-1) for its home-opener this Thursday at 7:00 PM.
