Herkimer Tops Tompkins Cortland on Sophomore Day

Herkimer, NY - On Saturday, Herkimer honored its four Sophomores and extended their win streak to five games following a 75-45 win over Tompkins Cortland Community College.  Herkimer knocked down 11 three pointers, led by Sophomore Guard Ajla Sejdic's five.  She would finish with 21 points and 10 assists to lead the way for the Generals.

 

Herkimer came out on a mission and applied heavy pressure on the Panthers that led to a 18-9 lead after the 1st quarter, and doubled up their opponent heading into the half, 46-23.  The Generals would get a big spark from the bench as Freshman reserve Layla Ford scored 18 on an efficient 8-11 from the floor.  Freshman Hinano Imamura would tally 14 points and dish out 6 assists.  Jenna Faulkner would stuff the box score as well with 10 points, 8 steals, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds.

 

Prior to the game, Herkimer honored its four sophomores, Faulkner, Sejdic, Lexi Upson, and Kapri Bradshaw.  In their two seasons, the sophomores have tallied a 30-17 records, winning its first conference championship in 2021-2022 in 24 seasons.  

 

"What a great day to celebrate our sophomores and continue collecting wins.  We played extremely efficient with great passing and unselfish play.  TC3 is a solid team with two dynamic players that we contained.  I am extremely proud of this group of players and so honored to have these sophomores celebrate another victory on their home floor." added Coach Matt Hazzard.

 

Herkimer plays its regular season finale versus #14 in the nation North Country on Tuesday at home at 5 p.m.
