Herkimer Stays Hot as They Top Finger Lakes

Herkimer, NY - The Generals returned home on Friday afternoon and earned a 66-28 win over Finger Lakes Community College.  Herkimer rode early hot shooting, jumping out to a 18-6 lead after the 1st quarter, and increased it to 20 heading into the half.  In the second 20 minutes, Herkimer would clamp down the defense, holding the Lakers to 12 second half points.

Sophomore guard Ajla Sejdic scored 21 points, drilling five three-pointers, while grabbing 6 rebounds to lead the Generals.  Herkimer's inside play proved dominate as all three forwards, Layla Ford, Jenna Faulkner, and Lydia Reimer scored in double digits.  Freshman point guard Hinano Imamura dished out 10 assists for the first time this season.

"We went into this game looking to improve on a couple things and learn to play without Kapri Bradshaw, who was out with an ankle injury, and the team responded.  The defense was great, and we committed to running the floor to get into offense.  Lots a great takeaways from it.  Finger Lakes isn't as bad as their record shows, and I'm glad the girls didn't underestimate their opponent." said Coach Matt Hazzard.

Herkimer returns for a 1 p.m. tip Saturday as they welcome Tompkins Cortland Community College.
