Herkimer Oulasts Hudson Valley to Return to Winning Ways

On Saturday, Herkimer hosted Hudson Valley in a key Mountain Valley Conference game that had many implications on Region 3 standings.  Hekimer walked away with a 77-66 win over an up and coming Hudson Valley team.

Hudson Valley is led by Freshman standout Peyton Graber, who leads the nation in scoring at nearly 28 points per game.  Herkimer used its efficient defense game to build an early lead and never looked back.  Led on the offensive end up Freshman Guard Hinano Imamura (17 pts) and Sophomore Guard Kapri Bradshaw (17 pts, 10 assists), the Generals won each quarter to build its lead to as high as 16 before finishing with an 11 pt margin.

"We firmly believe that one player can't beat you, and you have to take away the other parts, but Hudson Valley tests that.  As the season has gone on Hudson has become a very dangerous team, and we knew that we needed a great team effort.  Inside and out, everyone contributed to this win.  Hudson will upset some teams before this season is over, and you have to compliment them on their effort.  But, I am also really proud of our team to bounce back after a tough loss to earn a much needed win in the region.  At this time in the season, any win is a good win."  Said coach Hazzard

Sophomore Guard Ajla Sejdic adds 15 points, including 7-8 from the line, which brought her FT% to 94% for the season, which leads the nation.  Jenna Faulkner adds 8 pts and 13 reb in the victory.

Herkimer travels to face rival Mohawk Valley tomorrow.
