Generals bounce back with two important wins in the weekend doubleheader

The Generals hosted Jefferson Community College on Saturday, picking up a 70-63 win. Herkimer started out hot with eight field goals made in the first quarter that saw them take a 21-10 lead. 

Down by as few as four with six minutes to go in the half, the Generals went on a 12-6 run to end the second quarter and secure a 34-24 lead going into halftime.

They maintained the lead throughout the second half to secure the win.

The Generals had four in double-digits. Kapri Bradshaw led the way with 18 points, Hinano Imamura had 14 points, Ajla Sedic had 13 points, and Lydia Reimer added 10. 

The following day the Generals traveled to Onondaga Community College, defeating the No. 8 team in Division III 69-65. 

The teams traded blows in the first half, with the largest lead in the contested first half favoring the Generals by just four. 

Herkimer extended the lead by as many as seven in the fourth quarter before the Lazers trimmed the lead down to three with under a minute left. The Generals tightened their defense and survived with a four-point win.

Kapri Bradshaw (23), Aja Sejdic (16), Lydia Reimer (13) all recorded double-digit point totals for the second consecutive day. Jenna Faulkner recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 points.

The Generals improve to 5-4 on the season. They have a three-week winter break layover before its next game against Hudson Valley on Jan. 5, 2023, at 3:00 p.m.

 

Generals Notes

Kapri Bradshaw has scored 20-or-more points in back-to-back for the fourth time in her career and the first time this season. Her 23 point performance against Onondaga Community College is a season-high.

Hinano Imamura registered 10 assists this weekend. In Saturday's game versus Jefferson Community College, she set a career-high with six assists.

Ajla Sedic has scored three-or-more three-pointers in five of her last six games played. She leads Region II in 3 PT FG% (43.3%) and is one of two women in the region to shoot above 40% from beyond the arc.

Jenna Faulkner has recorded three-or-more blocks in eight of her nine games played this season. She leads Region III with 30 blocks; the second-most in the Region is 17.
