Generals Men's XC Finishes Sixth at Steven Warde Invitational

COBLESKILL -- On a warm Saturday morning, the leaves anxiously awaited to fall from the soon-to-be bare trees above the cross country course at Cobleskill.

The Generals finished sixth out of eight participating schools at the Steven A. Warde Invitational. Familiar foes Hudson Valley and Mohawk Valley paced alongside the Generals along with runners from five four-year programs. Herkimer was the only junior college program to have two runners in the top-12.

Sophomore Avion Harris led the group of Generals with a time of 28:31.78 (5:44.4 mile pace) and finished third overall. Freshman Michael Green impressed with a 30:45.65 time (6:11.3 pace) and finished in 12th place.

Sophomore Ryan Jenkins (36th place, 33:59.27), freshmen Aaron Pope (58th place, 40:07.04), Bryan Doyle (66th place, 44:24.97) and Ethan Hammer (67th place, 44:25.86) rounded out the scoring for the Generals.

Herkimer will travel to Region III foe Finger Lakes for its next race on Saturday, Sept. 16.
