Generals Baseball Split Doubleheader at Monroe

The Herkimer Baseball team split its first Region III series of the season at Monroe CC. 

The Generals emerged victorious in the first game with a final score of 8-3. The game saw freshman Ethan Glossa shine with a triple and two RBI. Freshman Michael Schleider opened up the game with a two-run, go-ahead double in the sixth inning. Sophomore Donovan Rhoden also contributed with a key RBI single. On the pitching side, freshman Tsubasa Tomii put together a complete game, allowing only three runs and striking out nine batters.

In the second game, Monroe Community College defeated Herkimer College 9-3.

The Generals started strong, scoring one run in the first inning and adding two more runs in the 3rd inning. However, Monroe Community College fought back, scoring two runs in the 3rd inning to narrow the gap. In the 5th inning, Monroe tied the game at 3-3.

The turning point came in the sixth inning when Monroe exploded for six runs.

The Generals have their home-opener next Sunday, April 7, against Cayuga CC. First pitch is set for noon and the second game will follow at 2:00 PM.
