Roll Tide: Herkimer Baseball Alum Greg Farone Thriving at University of Alabama

Former Herkimer College baseball standout Greg Farone is off to a hot start for the University of Alabama.

The left-hander transferred from Louisville looking to make a statement in the 2024 season and has not disappointed. The lefty started his season in the bullpen before winning the Saturday starting job. 

The 2022 NJCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Year is 3-0 with a 2.49 ERA in 25 innings this season. He has accumulated 28 strikeouts while just allowing 5 walks on the mound. 

Farone became the Herkimer's all-time strikeout leader with 213 career punchouts. He went 13-0 with a career 1.83 ERA, earning Region III Male Athlete of the Year and World Series MVP honors in 2022. 

On March 16th, Farone earned the win against #5 Tennessee where he allowed one run on five hits and a walk with 4 strikeouts across 5.1 innings pitched.
