The Male Athlete of the Month is Andrew Gregg, Men’s Track and Field, Homer, NY, a Criminal Justice major. He was a regional winner in the 400 hurdles, 2nd in the 400m, 3rd in the 110 hurdles, ran on two 3rd place relay teams and 4th in the decathlon. Coach Sharon Gleasman-Howell said, “Andrew received the track athlete of the regional meet award, which is very difficult to attain. This was his second year as team captain, and he’s one of the hardest working men I have ever coached.” This past weekend, Gregg won the national championship in the 400 hurdles, making him the first HCCC male track athlete to be a national champion.
The Female Athlete of the Month is Katie McGovern, Women’s Lacrosse, Babylon, NY. A Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major, McGovern lead the team and almost everyone in the region in goals, groundballs and draw controls. Coach Dianna Ste-Marie said, “Katie is the strongest athlete that I have had the pleasure to coach. She continues to impress me at every practice and game.”
