Amanda Mascia, February Athlete of the Month

Herkimer NY – Herkimer College has announced its Green and Gold Athletes for the month of January. They are women’s swimmer Amanda Mascia (Matoaca, VA) and men’s bowler Zach Jenkins (Endicott, NY)

Mascia, a sophomore, was named the Region III Co-Most Valuable Female Student-Athlete at the 2019 Region III Swimming Championships. She was the Region III/Northeast District Champion in the 50 FR, 100 FR, and 200 FR. Coach Vicki Brown states “Amanda and I set several goals for Regionals, all of which she exceeded. I am so very proud of her, not only for her swims but for how much she has grown in the very short time I have known her”

Jenkins, a sophomore, averaged a 182 score in three Mountain Valley Conference matches during the month, earning a spot in the top 25. At the 2019 Region III Tournament, Zach averaged a 189 and finished 4^th in singles and 7^th in the All Events Category. Coach Tony DeLuca “ Zach has been a solid bowler for us this whole season, but he really put it together at Regionals with his top five finish in singles and top ten in All Events”.
