Austin Loeffel, March Athlete of the Month

Sophomore Austin Loeffel was named Green & Gold Male Athlete of the Month in March. Loeffel - a Business: Sports & Recreation Management major at Herkimer College - helped the Generals to a 4-1 record, which included a win over #7 SUNY Delhi at home.

A native of Red Hook, NY – Loeffel didn’t allow over 10 goals in any game, allowing 20 goals in 198 minutes of play. On the flip side of that, the goalie saved an impressive 68 shots. A big portion of that came against both Dean and SUNY Delhi, where Loeffel saved 21 and 28 shots respectively. From this, Loeffel is currently Top 5 in the nation in goals against (22), goals against average (5.43), save percentage (76.8) and wins (5).

“Austin is playing phenomenal for us in goal,” said Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Jamie Ireland. “He is seeing a ton of shots each game, but has been consistent in not letting those shots reach the back of the net. It seems the more saves he makes, the better he gets!”
