Ken Woodard, December Athlete of the Month

Sophomore Ken Woodard was named Green & Gold Male Athlete of the Month for December. Woodard, a Communication Arts: Music Industry major at Herkimer College, helped the men’s basketball team to a 10-game win streak and a Top 10 national ranking to end the year.

A native of Bronx, NY, Woodard helped the men’s basketball team by averaging 12.6 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in three games against Mid State Athletic Conference competition. Those averages helped the team captain collect his first double double of the season against Broome Community College, scoring 10 and collecting 13 rebounds in an 11-point victory (73-62). Also helping Woodard to those totals this season has been a high efficiency in the paint, currently ranked eighth in the nation in field goal percentage, making 63.9 percent of his shots. The forward shot over 50 percent in the month of December, averaging almost nine shots per contest.

“Kenny is developing into a very good collegiate player,” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Lee. “His consistent effort in practice is starting to pay off in games with better habits on the court throughout.”
