Emily Rexford, December Athlete of the Month

Women’s Basketball guard Emily Rexford (Canton, NY) was named Female Athlete of the Month in December. Rexford helped the Generals to a 2-1 record, making teams expand their defense due to her excellent shooting from three point land. Rexford’s hot shooting was most prevalent against Broome Community College when she hit a season-high five three-point field goals on nine shots (55.6 percent). This helped her to 21 points in the game, which was a season high. Rexford, a Social Sciences major at Herkimer County Community College, averages 13.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. In December, those averages jumped to 17 and 5. Rexford is currently 7th in the nation with 2.8 made three pointers per game thanks to 34 total three-point field goals in 12 games (12th in nation). Rexford will look to keep defenses honest throughout the rest of the season, drawing attention around the perimeter.
