Volleyball Drops Two in MVCC POD

The Herkimer Generals Volleyball team played at the Mohawk Valley CC POD against Finger Lakes Community College and Monroe Community College. Despite a strong effort, the Generals faced tough competition, falling in both matches.

In the morning match against Finger Lakes Community College, the Generals were defeated in straight sets, 20-25, 14-25, and 26-28. Herkimer fought hard in the third set, pushing their opponents to the brink, but ultimately, Finger Lakes' efficient hitting led to their victory. Alyssa Ojeda was a key player for the Generals, contributing 4 kills and leading the team with 7 points. Deanna Heintz added 5 points, supported by her 9 digs in defense.

Later in the day, the Generals faced Monroe Community College in a competitive five-set battle. Herkimer showed determination, winning the second and fourth sets, but Monroe took the match with a final score of 3-2 (28-26, 18-25, 25-24, 15-25, 15-8). Alyssa Ojeda once again led the charge with 4 service aces and 12 digs, finishing with 12 points. Jadyn Ruff also made significant contributions with 10 points and 5 digs. Deanna Heintz played a key role defensively, adding 12 digs.

Despite the losses, Herkimer showed resilience throughout the day, competing closely with both opponents. The Generals will head back to Mohawk Valley CC to take on the Hawks in a conference matchup this Tuesday at 6:00 PM.
