Herkimer Volleyball Splits Season-Opener Doubleheader

BINGHAMTON, NY -- Herkimer Volleyball split its season-opening POD losing to Corning CC but later defeating SUNY Broome in three sets. The team's performance highlighted their strengths in both attack and defense, as several players stood out across the matches.

Match 1: Herkimer College vs. Corning Community College
Alyssa Ojeda led the offensive charge with 7 kills and added 1 ace for a total of 8 points. Deanna Heintz contributed 3 kills and 4 digs, while Allison Ball showcased her all-around game with 2 points and 5 digs. Jadyn Ruff proved to be a consistent force with 3 points, including 1 ace.

Match 2: Herkimer College vs. SUNY Broome Community College
Alyssa Ojeda had an outstanding game, posting 13 kills, 5 digs, and an impressive total of 18.5 points. Deanna Heintz contributed 5.5 points with 5 kills and 5 digs, while Grace Durant added 6 kills and 4 digs to tally 8 points. Jadyn Ruff had a strong showing as well, racking up 7 kills and 2 digs, finishing with 9 points. Allison Ball and Amelia Sheldrick chipped in with 3 points and 2 points, respectively, as the Generals fought hard throughout the match.

The team's next match will be its home-opener on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6:00 PM vs. Hudson Valley CC. Come out and support the Generals!
