Alexis Heath Sets Program Record in 1500M in National Championship

Freshman Alexis Heath ended her first season running track & field with a place in the Herkimer record books.

Heath, a second-year student and first-year runner from Inlet, NY, set a program-record of 5:02.26 in the 1500M race at the NJCAA Division III Track & Field National Championships.

Heath was steady throuhgout the race. After her first 300M split, she remained in second place throughout the entire race. First-place finisher Kimiko Quayle broke away at the end with an incredible final 400M split of 1:13.62.

Heath's efforts proved remarkable, etching her name into the Herkimer Track & Field record books with the fastest 1500M time in Generals history by five seconds, besting her record-breaking time at the Cortland Classic earlier last month.
