Herkimer Women's Tennis falls to Mohawk Valley in Thriller

The Herkimer Women's Tennis team squared off against Mohawk Valley Community College on April 28 in another Region III matchup. Despite a strong push in singles and doubles, Herkimer came up just short, losing 5–4 in a tightly contested match.

Singles Highlights

Herkimer showed grit in singles, taking three of six flights:

  • Allison Ball picked up her second straight singles win with an 8–4 victory in the fourth flight.

  • Anderson Eggleston outlasted MVCC's Sha Wee 8–5 in the third flight, giving Herkimer early momentum.

  • Sydney Schell delivered a dominant performance at sixth flight, winning 8–1.

Julia Hight and Ava Williams faced tough opponents at the top two flights, both falling in quick matches. Haylie Buysse lost in the fifth flight, 8–2.

Doubles Highlights

Herkimer's doubles play stayed sharp:

  • Williams and Ball were again a strong pair, defeating MVCC's top team 8–4 in the first flight.

  • Herkimer dropped the second and third doubles flights, though, which ultimately tipped the match in MVCC's favor.

Final Score: Mohawk Valley CC 5, Herkimer 4

Though it was a narrow loss, Herkimer had multiple players step up again—especially Ball, who remained unbeaten in singles through two matches, and the Williams/Ball doubles pairing, which continues to shine.
