Women’s Soccer Picks Up Huge Win Over No. 5 Onondaga CC

Herkimer College secured a narrow 1-0 victory over No. 5 ranked Onondaga Community College in a closely-contested match under miserable weather conditions.

The game remained scoreless through the first half, with both teams struggling to create clear scoring opportunities. The defensive efforts of both sides kept the match evenly balanced.

The decisive moment came in the 75th minute when Kadence York, assisted by Yetnelyz Lugo-Mateo, broke the deadlock with the only goal of the match on a well-placed cross, giving Herkimer a 1-0 lead. This goal proved to be enough, as Herkimer's defense held strong for the remaining minutes of the game.

Herkimer's goalkeeper, McKenzie Raine, earned a clean sheet with her first career shutout.

With this win, Herkimer College improved to 6-3-2 on the season, while Onondaga Community College's record fell to 8-2. The Generals head to Hudson Valley CC on Saturday for the second-to-last game of the regular season.
