Women's Basketball Picks Up Decisive Win Against Mohawk Valley

The Herkimer College Women's Basketball team delivered an impressive all-around performance, overpowering Mohawk Valley Community College with a decisive 68-39 win on their home court. The Generals showcased their defensive prowess and offensive depth, controlling the game from start to finish.
 
Stifling Defense and Strong Start
Herkimer set the tone early, holding Mohawk Valley to just 7 points in the first quarter and an astonishing 3 points in the second, taking a commanding 26-10 lead into halftime. The Generals' relentless defense forced 19 turnovers and racked up 13 steals, disrupting Mohawk Valley's offensive flow throughout the game.
 
Rebounding Dominance
The battle on the boards was heavily tilted in Herkimer's favor, as they out-rebounded Mohawk Valley 54-20. Sophomore forward Imani McNeil (Colonie, NY) was a force in the paint, securing a game-high 15 rebounds and contributing 18 points for a dominant double-double performance. Her tenacity on both ends kept Mohawk Valley from gaining any second-chance opportunities.
 
Balanced Scoring Attack
Herkimer's offense was fueled by balanced contributions across the roster. Freshman Kavashia Archie (Utica, NY) came off the bench to score 14 points, adding 5 rebounds and 4 steals in an impactful performance. Sophomore Sage Geisler (Queens, NY) also delivered key minutes, finishing with 11 points and a team-high 5 assists, orchestrating the offense with precision.
 
Clutch Plays and Strong Finish
While Mohawk Valley showed signs of life in the third quarter, scoring 17 points, Herkimer responded with 25 points of their own, maintaining control. The Generals closed out the game with a dominant fourth quarter, fueled by sharp passing, aggressive defense, and efficient free-throw shooting (converting 14 of 19 attempts).
