Archie's 22 Points Not Enough Against Onondaga CC

The Herkimer College Women's Basketball team fought hard but came up just short in a thrilling contest against Onondaga Community College, falling 77-72 on their home court Sunday afternoon.

Despite a strong first quarter, where the Generals took a 20-16 lead, Onondaga surged back with a dominant second period, outscoring Herkimer 23-12 to take a 39-32 advantage into halftime. The Generals responded with a resilient effort in the second half, but the visitors maintained their edge to close out the win.

Offensive Leaders & Key Performances
Freshman Kavashia Archie (Utica, NY) led the Generals with 22 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while playing a crucial role in the team's offensive flow. Sophomore Imani McNeil (Colonie, NY) delivered a standout performance in the paint, recording a double-double with 20 points and an impressive 18 rebounds. Sophomore guard Kerisa Van Olst (Salisbury Center, NY) added 14 points, including two three-pointers, and sophomore Sage Geisler (Queens, NY) contributed 11 points along with a team-high nine assists.

Despite shooting 40.3% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc, Herkimer struggled with turnovers, committing 27 in the contest. Onondaga capitalized on these mistakes while also benefiting from a stellar outing by Kathryn Grainger, who dominated with 28 points and 21 rebounds for the visitors.

Late Push Falls Short
The Generals mounted a final comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, matching Onondaga with 22 points in the frame. Archie and McNeil combined for key baskets down the stretch, but Onondaga maintained composure at the free-throw line to hold onto their lead.
