
Herkimer Women's Basketball Falls to No. 11 Ranked Onondaga
The No. 12 ranked Herkimer Women's Basketball team faced a tough challenge on the road, falling to Onondaga Community College 78-48 on Monday night.
From the opening tip, Onondaga established control, jumping out to a 23-14 lead after the first quarter. The Generals struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the second quarter, managing only six points while Onondaga extended their advantage to 43-20 at halftime.
Despite a stronger second-half effort, Herkimer was unable to close the gap. The Generals showed resilience in the third quarter, with key contributions from sophomores Kerisa Van Olst (19 points, 4 three-pointers) and Imani McNeil (17 points, 10 rebounds), but Onondaga's balanced attack proved too much to overcome.
Onondaga shot 42.9% from the field and capitalized on their perimeter shooting, hitting eight three-pointers at a 40% clip. Brianna Weaver led the Lazers with 15 points, while Amiya Johnson and Precious Gabriel each added double-digit scoring efforts.
Herkimer battled on the boards, pulling down 41 rebounds compared to Onondaga's 37, with McNeil leading the way with a game-high 10. However, turnovers plagued the Generals throughout the game, as they committed 26 compared to Onondaga's 13.
