The Herkimer College women's basketball team put up a strong fight in their game against Mohawk Valley Community College but ultimately came up short, falling 77-53.
Sophomore Sage Geisler led Herkimer's charge, putting up 14 points while grabbing 9 rebounds, and added 3 steals on defense. Freshman Kavashia Archie secured a double-double in her first career game, scoring 14 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Imani McNeil chipped in with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Off the bench, sophomore Charity Dygert provided a spark, adding 7 points and 2 steals in 20 minutes of action.
Despite their hard work, turnovers hurt the Generals, as they committed 24 throughout the game, allowing Mohawk Valley to capitalize and extend their lead. Still, Herkimer showed promise, especially in their rebounding, totaling 44 boards, with 16 coming on the offensive end.
The Generals have a quick turnaround, heading up to North Country CC for a 1:00 PM tip on Saturday.
