The Herkimer Generals softball team earned a split in Tuesday's doubleheader against Mohawk Valley CC, dropping the opener 4-2 before bouncing back with a 9-4 win in Game 2.
In Game 1, the Generals were held scoreless until the sixth inning. Jessica Zalucki and Aubrey Lewis each drove in a run. Emma Carlton had two hits and scored once. Kerrigan Crysler went the distance in the circle, striking out seven and walking three.
Mohawk Valley scored twice in the first and added two more in the third. Herkimer made a late push but couldn't complete the comeback.
Game 2 was a different story. The Generals broke it open with four runs in the second and four more in the sixth.
Zalucki had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Emma Carlton scored three times and drove in one. Anderson Eggleston and Brianna Molter each added an RBI. Aubrey Lewis picked up the win, pitching all seven innings and striking out two.
With the split, Herkimer moves to 3-17 on the season.
