The Herkimer College men's soccer team delivered an impressive performance defeating Genesee Community College 4-1 on their home field.
Herkimer took control of the match early, with Rood Apolon scoring the opening goal in the 14th minute, assisted by Ben Gundle. The Generals continued to pressure, doubling their lead at 30:17 with a goal from Kaspar Klett Doesen, assisted by Apolon. Just three minutes later, Matty Casson extended the advantage to 3-0, capitalizing on an assist from Ross Mackinnon.
In the second half, Herkimer maintained their momentum. Rood Apolon found the back of the net again at the 51:43 mark, with an assist from Dylan Pederson, bringing the score to 4-0. Genesee managed to break through in the 73rd minute when Jan Bimmler converted a penalty kick, making the final score 4-1.
Herkimer's defense held strong throughout the match, with goalkeeper Andrew Moulton playing all 90 minutes to secure the victory. Despite a late goal from Genesee, the Generals' early dominance ensured a comfortable win.
With this victory, Herkimer College improved to a perfect 7-0 record, while Genesee Community College's record moved to 6-4. The Generals continue their difficult stretch of games with a home match against Onondaga CC this Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
