Generals Lacrosse Roll Past Elmira, Set Sights on Region 3B Championship
The Herkimer Generals Men's Lacrosse Team continued its strong postseason push with a dominant 21-4 victory over Elmira College on Wednesday night.
The Generals wasted no time getting on the board, scoring eight goals in the first quarter to take control of the game. Sophomore Ryan Hoyt set the tone early, finishing the night with five goals and two assists. Chris Rose also delivered a standout performance, recording six points on five goals and one assist.
Herkimer (10-4) kept the pressure on through all four quarters, with Lukas Quinn, Brodie Davis, Casey Ryan, Connor Flo, Leonardo Checo, and Ethan McIntyre all finding the back of the net.
Connor Flo had a breakout game, posting four goals and one assist to help fuel the offense. Casey Ryan played a key role as a distributor, registering four assists to go along with a goal.
The Generals' defense was equally impressive, holding Elmira to just one goal in the first half and shutting them down over the final 23 minutes of the contest. Herkimer's transition play and ride caused constant problems for the Soaring Eagles, leading to numerous turnovers and fast-break opportunities.
With the win, Herkimer advances to the Region 3B Championship, where they will face No. 2 seed Genesee Community College on Saturday. The winner will earn a trip to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. A victory would mark Herkimer's first National Championship appearance since 2008.
Saturday's showdown is set for a 12:00 PM face-off in Batavia, NY.
