Herkimer Men's Lacrosse moves to 2-0 on season

Herkimer, NY -  After a slow start in their home opener, the Herkimer Generals exploded for 16 goals on the day in a convincing 16-6 win over Finger Lakes Community College on Thursday afternoon at Wehrum Stadium. The win give Herkimer a 2-0 start on the young season.

Finger Lakes came out strong, scoring the first two goals of the game in man-up situations. But the Generals settled down and scored 8 of the next 9 goals to take an 8-3 advantage into the halftime break. Five third period goals sealed the win for the Generals as they cruised to the eventual ten goal margin of victory.

Eddie White (Utica,NY) and Pat Gribbon (Stone Ridge, NY) paced the Generals attack with 4 goals apiece. White added 5 assists while Gribbon tallied 4 on the day. Alex Gorgas (Whitestown, NY) added three goals, including a spectacular catch and score of a bounce pass from Gribbon on a fast break in the 3rd period. Dylan Gruniesen (Potsdam, NY) added 2 goals on the afternoon and Spencer Parks (Niskayuna, NY), Val Brito (Norwalk, CT), and Ricky Ferraiola (Utica, NY) rounded out the Herkimer scoring with one goal each. Jack Babka (Draper UT) and Ryan O' Hara (North Syracuse, NY) split time in goal and had 11 saves combined in the win.

The Generals hope to continue their winning ways when they host rival Mohawk Valley Community College on Saturday, March 24 at Wehrum Stadium. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
