Men’s Lacrosse strings third consecutive home win Saturday

(Ryan Zimmerman scored his only goal of the game Saturday on an assist from Jon Wilkins, in the first quarter).

(Ryan Fischer scored the first goal of the game Saturday unassisted with 9:37 left in the first quarter).

HERKIMER, NY – Playing their second to last home game of the regular season at Wehrum Stadium on Saturday (4/16), the Herkimer Generals men's lacrosse team didn't disappoint, defeating Tompkins Cortland 13-9 in regulation for the team's third consecutive home victory.

Helping the Generals remain hot at home was Ryan Fischer (Monroe, NY), James Redpath III (Rome, NY), Justin Flint (Endicott, NY), Ryan Zimmerman (Irondequoit, NY) and Cavanagh Rigby (Bexley, OH). All of them netted a goal in the first 15 minutes of play, Fischer actually netted two, helping the team to an early 6-0 lead over the Panthers.

The final 45 minutes of play saw the Generals get outscored 9-to-7, but the superb first minutes got the team through the game and in the win column.

Up next for Herkimer is Monroe Community College. Herkimer will host the Tribunes in their final regular season home game on Wednesday (4/20). The Tribunes are 8-4 on the season and 4-1 in their last five game. That one loss came from Onondaga on the road. Game time between these two is scheduled for 6 p.m.
