Generals lose to Onondaga on their home field

SYRACUSE, NY – Unable to string together wins in their previous four games, the Herkimer Generals Men's Lacrosse team lost to Onondaga Community College on Wednesday by a score of 30-2.

Herkimer 5-5 (2-1) has been up-and-down, defeating Hudson Valley and Niagara County, but losing to Finger Lakes, Dean College and Onondaga in their last five games.

On Wednesday, the No. 1 ranked Lazers scored 26 unanswered goals in the first three periods before Joel Braun (Troy, NY) and Michael Fuoco (Kingston, NY) scored on assists from Tony Karam (New Hartford, NY) and Jonathan Camera (Staten Island, NY). It made the score 26-2 with 8:34 left in the match, seeing Onondaga finish the game scoring four more unanswered goals.

Playing goalie for the Generals in the first half was Mario Diaz (New Rochelle, NY). Diaz had 11 saves, surrendering 18 goals. In the second half Austin Loeffel (Red Hook, NY) saved a season-high 23, but allowed 12 goals.

Herkimer next game is their last of the regular season. They'll host Tompkins-Cortland Community College this Saturday at 3 p.m. The Generals are currently fifth in the region behind Onondaga, SUNY Delhi and Jefferson. Sub-Regionals begin on April 22nd.
