Herkimer unable to win at home on Saturday

HERKMER, NY – Unable to maintain their momentum gained from defeated Hudson Valley in their last game at home, the Herkimer Generals Lacrosse team lost to Dean College Saturday afternoon 21-8 at Wehrum Stadium.

Herkimer 4-4 (1-1) played a terrific first period, leading the Bulldogs 3-2 after the first seven minutes of play on goals from Cristian Ojeda (Ossining, NY), Michael Fuoco (Kingston, NY) and Kyle Lee (Cincinnati, OH). That lead was quickly erased after the Bulldogs outscored the Generals 9-1 through the next 23 minutes of play, going into the half down 11-4.

The second half saw Jonathan Camera (Staten Island, NY), Joel Braun (Troy, NY), Jeremy Mowrey (Johnstown, NY) and Lee net goals for the Generals, but Dean scored six more goals in the half (10-to-4), tallying ten on freshman goalie Austin Loeffel (Red Hook, NY) en route to the 13-goal win. Loeffel finished the match saving nine shots.

Staring in net for Herkimer was Mario Diaz (New Rochelle, NY). Diaz saved seven in the first half, allowing 11 goals in 30 minutes.

The Generals get right back at it on Sunday (4/13). After three consecutive home games, Herkimer will travel to Sanborn, NY to take on Niagara County Community College. The match between the Thunderwolves and Generals is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
