
Men's Golf Takes Third at Home Invitational; Fourth at Mohawk Valley Invitational
The Herkimer Generals golf team delivered back-to-back solid performances this weekend, finishing third at their home invitational on May 3 and fourth the following day at the Mohawk Valley Invitational.
At Mohawk Valley Country Club on Saturday, the Generals carded a team score of 318 to secure third place out of seven teams. Jaydon Dietz led Herkimer with a 75, placing him tied for fifth individually. He was followed by Anthony Zysk with a strong 79, while Matt Urtz (81) and Coltan Frederick (83) rounded out the top four scores. David Shmat (100) completed the lineup. SUNY Niagara (299) and Hudson Valley (301) took the top two spots.
On Sunday at Oneida Community Golf Club, Herkimer placed fourth out of nine teams with a team total of 342. Dietz once again led the Generals, posting a 79 and tying for ninth overall. Zysk followed with an 82, while Frederick shot 84 and Shmat added a 97. McCumber returned to the lineup with a 116. Niagara and Hudson Valley tied for first at 305, with Onondaga close behind at 324.
The weekend highlighted the consistency of Herkimer's top performers, particularly Dietz and Zysk, who both turned in back-to-back rounds in the 70s. With the postseason approaching, the Generals look poised to compete at a high level and continue building on their depth and scoring consistency.
