The Herkimer Generals Men's Golf Team continued a strong spring season with solid finishes at two events this past week, taking third at the Jamestown Invitational and fifth at the Niagara Invitational.

At Jamestown on Friday, April 24th, the Generals posted a team score of 321, finishing behind Hudson Valley (298) and Niagara (299).

Sophomore Jaydon Dietz led the way for Herkimer with a stellar round of 73, placing second overall. Anthony Zysk shot a strong 78, Coltan Frederick added an 84, while Matt Urtz contributed an 86. Braden McCumber (97) and David Shmat (106) rounded out the scoring.

The following day at the Niagara Invitational, Herkimer placed fifth out of nine teams with a team total of 331. Dietz once again paced the Generals, firing a 75 to finish tied for second overall. Anthony Zysk added an 80, Matt Urtz shot an 85, and Coltan Frederick posted a 91. David Shmat rounded out the scoring with a 99.

SUNY Niagara won their home tournament with a team score of 307, narrowly edging Hudson Valley (309). Despite the tough competition, Herkimer remained competitive thanks to strong top-end performances from Dietz and solid contributions across the lineup.

The Generals will look to keep the momentum going as they head into the final stretch of their spring schedule. The team hosts its first competition of the year at Mohawk Valley Country Club on Saturday at noon.
