Jaydon Dietz Wins First Career Tournament as Generals Golf Starts Season Strong
The Herkimer College Men's Golf team kicked off its 2025 season with solid showing at the TC3 Panthers Invitational and the Onondaga Lazers Invitational
The Generals placed fourth in each event as a team, however, the highlight of the matches was sophomore Jaydon Dietz's career-best 73 at the Onondaga Lazers Invitational, which gave him the first individual win of his college career.
TC3 Panthers Invitational
Herkimer finished in fourth-place out of eight teams with a combined score of 320, just one stroke behind Onondaga for third.
Leading the way for Herkimer was Jayden Dietz, who opened his season with an impressive round of 76. Anthony Zysk followed closely behind with a career-best 77, while Matt Urtz added a 78. Coltan Frederick rounded out the team's scoring with an 89.
Though the conditions were far from ideal, the competition was tight. Niagara dominated the field with a low team score of 291, led by individual medalist Adam Firkins, who fired a 71. Hudson Valley A (317) and Onondaga (319) followed closely behind for second and third-place finishes respectively.
Onondaga Lazers Invitational
The team followed up with a strong performance at the Onondaga Lazers Invitational on April 12 at Sunset Ridge Golf Club. Despite wet and windy conditions, Herkimer finished 4th again with a 344.
The standout of the day — and the tournament — was Dietz, who carded a career-best 73 in difficult weather conditions to earn medalist honors, the first individual win of his college career.
Sophomore Anthony Zysk shot an 82 to finished tied for 15th, while freshman Coltan Frederick carded an 89.
Niagara (307) finished in first place, squeaking by host Onondaga CC (308) by a stroke.
