Crouse Wins First Region III Golf Title in Program History
EAST AMHERST, NY -- Sophomore Evan Crouse won the Region III Men's Golf Championship (71-80--151) on Tuesday at Glen Oaks Golf Course, becoming the first golfer in program history to win a Region III individual title.
Crouse began the two-day tournament with a career-low, one-under 71. It was the lowest score by a Herkimer golfer since April 26, 2019 (Nicholas Visconti at Jefferson). Only one other Region III golfer had shot a lower round at a Region III Championship since 2014.
In tough conditions, Crouse was just one of five golf golfers to shoot a sub-80 on the second day. He had the fourth-lowest scoring average (77.09) among Region III golfers entering the tournament.
He advances to the NJCAA Division III National Championships from June 6-9 at Chauquatua Golf Course in Chauquatua, NY. He finshed tied for 31st (82-80-90-87--339) at last year's National Championship.
