
Men's Basketball Dominate Second Half to Secure Sophomore Day Victory Over Fulton-Montgomery
On a special Sophomore Day celebration, the Herkimer College Generals put on a dominant second-half performance to defeat Fulton-Montgomery Community College 81-61 at home. The victory improved Herkimer's record to 21-3 (13-1 in conference play) and showcased the leadership of their sophomores in their final home regular-season game.
Second-Half Surge Fuels Victory
Trailing 30-28 at halftime, the Generals came out firing in the second half, outscoring their opponents 53-31 over the final 20 minutes. Herkimer's offense found its rhythm, while their defensive pressure led to multiple turnovers and transition opportunities.
Sophomore Oladele Oladitan (Staten Island, NY) led the way for the Generals with an impressive all-around performance, scoring 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting while adding seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Fellow sophomore Jayson McGhee (New Rochelle, NY) was a force from beyond the arc, hitting two three-pointers and finishing with 18 points. Freshman Kenny Freeman (Rochester, NY) provided an efficient 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while sophomore AJ Burnett (Syracuse, NY) and freshman Xavier Cardona (Staten Island, NY) each contributed eight points off the bench.
Defensively, Herkimer capitalized on Fulton-Montgomery's mistakes, forcing 15 turnovers and converting them into fast-break opportunities. The Generals' defensive intensity was highlighted by 12 steals, which disrupted the visitors' offensive flow.

With the home crowd in attendance to honor the contributions of the team's sophomores, Herkimer made sure to leave a lasting impression. After a sluggish start, the Generals locked in during the second half, feeding off the energy of the ceremony and their supporters.
