
Oladitan's Double-Double Powers Herkimer Over Hudson Valley CC
The Herkimer College Generals overcame a halftime deficit with a dominant second-half performance to secure an 86-78 road victory over Hudson Valley Community College on Tuesday night at the McDonough Sports Complex. The win improves Herkimer's record to 17-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play.
Trailing 31-29 at halftime, the Generals came out firing in the second half, scoring 57 points on a scorching 63% shooting from the field. Sophomore forward Oladele Oladitan (Staten ISland, NY) led the way with a monster double-double, posting 26 points and 13 rebounds while also converting 13-of-19 from the free-throw line.
Sophomore guard Jayden Norris (St. Louis, MO) provided a crucial offensive spark, tallying 16 points with two three-pointers, while freshman guard Josiah Smith (Poughkeepsie, NY) added 15 points off the bench, hitting 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Jayson McGhee controlled the offense, dishing out a team-high eight assists while contributing 11 points.
Despite struggling from deep in the first half (7.7% from three), the Generals turned things around, hitting 83.3% of their three-pointers in the second half. Their defensive intensity also picked up, forcing 18 turnovers and turning them into 11 points.
Hudson Valley (9-11, 3-6) was led by James Blake, who recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Julius Reed added 15 points off the bench. However, the Vikings struggled from three-point range, making just 4-of-25 (16%) from beyond the arc.
With the win, Herkimer continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Generals will look to extend their winning streak when they return home for their next matchup against No. 2 ranked Mohawk Valley CC on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
