HERKIMER STAGES RALLY TO DEFEAT COLUMBUS STATE AT NATIONALS

Rochester, MN - Down 15 late in the first half, the Herkimer Generals battled back to take down Columbus State (OH) by a score of 61-58 in a first round contest at the 2020 NJCAA Division III National Championships in Rochester, MN. The win lifts Herkimer's record to 23-7 on the season.

Down 31-20 with a few minutes left in the first half, the # 8 seeded Generals scored the last 6 points of the first half to only trail by 5 at the half. In the second half, Herkimer outscored the Cougars 35-27 to secure the 3 point win.

Ty Desinor (Brooklyn, NY) led the Generals with 15 points and 10 rebounds, including 2 free throws with 10 seconds left to ice the victory. Keyshawn Miller (Yonkers, NY) added 12 points in the win. Herkimer's defense held Columbus State to 37% shooting from the field and forced 19 turnovers.

The Generals, the defending National Champions, now move on the National Quarterfinal on Thursday and a matchup with Sandhills CC (NC), the # 1 seed in this year's National Tournament. This will be a rematch of last year's National Quarterfinal, won by the Generals by a score of 76-64. Game time for Thursday's game is 3:00 EDT (2:00 CDT).
