MEN'S BASKETBALL ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN

HERKIMER — The Herkimer Generals Men's Basketball Team finished the 2019-20 regular season with a 20-6 record after defeating Schenectady Community College 85-34 on Tuesday evening.

 

The Generals led end-to-end, including a 45-24 halftime lead.

 

Herkimer shut down Schenectady in the second half, outscoring the Royals 40-10.

 

Four players from Herkimer scored in double-digits. 

 

Freshman guard Shykell Brown (Rochester) led both sides with 28 points (9-for-16 FG, 6-of-11 3 PT), freshman guard Dante Griffin added 15 points (6-of-10 FG), freshman forward Keyshawn Miller (Yonkers) added 11 points, and sophomore center Solomon Silas (Nigeria) chipped in 10 points.

 

Miller led the team with 14 rebounds, and Silas added 12. Freshman forward Josh Jones (Bridgeport, CT) & sophomore forward Ty Desinor (Brooklyn) added eight & seven rebounds respectively. 

 

Herkimer also had a season-high 24 assists, with freshman guard Jaylen Warmack (Utica) leading the way with eight.

 

With the win, the Generals clinch the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Region 3 Tournament. They will play Jefferson Community College on Tuesday, February 25th at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinals. 

 

On November 21, Jefferson CC defeated Herkimer 66-47 in their only matchup this season.
