MEN'S BASKETBALL RUNS WIN STREAK TO 5

JOHNSTOWN & HERKIMER — The Generals improved their winning streak to five with wins over Fulton-Montgomery and SUNY Adirondack this week. 

 

On Monday, February 10th, Herkimer defeated Fulton-Montgomery 61-52 in the General's final regular season road game for the 2019-20 season.

 

It was an offensively-deficient first half for the Generals trailing 21-18.

 

Sophomore tri-captain Solomon Silas opened the second half with six straight points which led to a 17-4 run in the first six minutes of the final half.

 

Herkimer (17-6) built a 46-26 lead with ten minutes left, but a resilient Raiders team pulled to within single-digits with 4:38 left.

 

Both teams exchanged baskets as the score differential stayed steady, leading to a nine point Herkimer victory. 

 

Freshmen guards Shykell Brown (Rochester) and Dante Griffin (Utica) led the Generals with 13 points apiece, and sophomore forward Ty Desinor (Brooklyn) added 11.

 

On Wednesday evening, the Generals defeated SUNY Adirondack 93-55.

 

Herkimer (18-6) led end-to-end, shooting 36-of-88 (41%) from the field, and 11-of-38 from three-point range.

 

Freshman guard Jaylen Warmack (Utica) came off the bench to score a season-high 27 points. Brown added 22, and sophomore center Solomon Silas (Nigeria), sophomore forward Rashad Alfahad, and Griffin each added 10 points.

 

Alfahad led the team with 16 rebounds, and Griffin led the team with eight assists.

 

The Generals next game is Saturday, February 15th, vs. Columbia Greene CC at 1 p.m.
