GENERALS FALL TO # 6 MOHAWK VALLEY

HERKIMER — The General-faithful packed into the bleachers by the dozen taking part in a white-out.

Their impact couldn't have been more apparent, providing a friendly atmosphere for Herkimer (13-6) to dig itself out of a 11-point halftime deficit.

The Generals came on the bad end of a back-and forth second half battle, losing to No. (18-2) Mohawk Valley Community College 81-78.

Herkimer trailed 41-30 at halftime after shooting just 45% from the field, and 1-of-8 (12%) from three-point range.

An exuberant Shykell Brown (Rochester) couldn't miss in the second half for the Generals, scoring 26-of-his-30 points in the latter half (11/14 FG, 4/6 from three).

The Generals secured their first lead with 10:42 left when Shykell Brown hit a left-handed eurostep in the paint. Their biggest lead was only four, as a seesaw battle began.

Mohawk Valley scored 20 points in the final 6:33, and it was just too much for Herkimer to overcome; who failed to get a potential game-tying shot attempt off in time.

"We're going to learn from our minor mistakes and not let them happen again," said head coach Matt Lee. "We've come a long way as a team, and we're going to finish the season even more motivated to win."

Freshman guard tandem Jayden Stephens (Yonkers) & Jaylen Warmack (Utica) led the Generals with 16 points, and 12 points respectively. Sophomore center Solomon Silas (Nigeria) led the team with seven rebounds, and Dante Griffin (Utica) led the team with six assists.

The Generals look to rebound at home against Clinton CC this Saturday at 3 p.m
