HERKIMER MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS SECOND IN A ROW, MOVE TO 3-1 ON YEAR WITH 74-61 WIN OVER TC-3

HERKIMER — It was gritty, it was sloppy, but at the end of the day, it was a win, as the Herkimer Generals defeated Tompkins Cortland Community College 74-61 to improve to 3-1 this season.

Both teams combined for 48 fouls, and 59 free throws, in a game that lasted just over two-and-a-half hours.

 Team Statistics:

23-of-61 FG - 38%

7-of-20 from three - 35%

21-for-30 (70%) on free-throws

21 turnovers

Sophomore captain Solomon Silas (Nigeria) led the No. 4 ranked Generals with 16 points (6-of-8 shooting), 11 rebounds and three blocks. Freshman guard Shykell Brown (Rochester) added 11 points (3-for-5 on three-pointers).

Sophomore forward Tyres Desinor (Brooklyn) scored nine points, and freshman guard Jaylen Warmack (Utica) added seven off the bench.

"I don't know if they slowed us down or we slowed ourselves down," said Men's Basketball Head Coach Matt Lee. "They came out (in the first half) ready to dictate the tempo and we made some mistakes. We're comfortable playing fast, and we're comfortable playing slow. We had much more success in the second half when we forced them to slow their offense down and we dictated our own tempo."

The Generals don't play until this weekend, where they will hit the road. On Saturday, November 16th they play Corning Community College in a NJCAA Region III semifinal rematch. The following day, they play at Finger Lakes Community College.
