NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!

Rochester, MN - The Herkimer Generals are National Champions!!!

Tournament MVP Derrick Felder (Yonkers, NY) had 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists as the Generals battled back from a 6 point halftime deficit to defeat Rock Valley (IL) by a score of 72-60 in the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball National Title Game on Saturday night in Rochester, Minnesota. The championship was the first for Herkimer's Men's Basketball Program since the late Jack Alofs led the Generals to the title in 1991. It is also the first Men's Basketball Championship for Region III since Onondaga won it in 1993.

The Generals still trailed by the Eagles at 54-53 with just over 6 minutes remaining before closing their championship season on a 19-6 run to secure the win. Musa Pough (Brooklyn, NY) joined Felder on the All Tournament as he wrapped up the weekend with a 13 point and 7 rebound performance. Jaymes Jackson (Brooklyn, NY) came off the bench to score 9 points and grab 4 rebounds and Darius Hines (Troy, NY) added 9 points with 3 3 point field goals on the night. Once again, the Generals defense was the story as they held Rock Valley to only 23 second half points.

Herkimer ends the season with a record of 31-1 and close the season by winning their last 28 games in route to the Championship. Congratulations to Head Coach Matt Lee, who was named Coach of the Tournament, as well as Associate Head Coach Hank Testa and Assistant Coaches Matt Tomaino and Jeremy Cingranelli and Trainer Kyle Roepnack.
